  • Crash closes Route 6 in Eastham

    Route 6 in Eastham is closed at Samoset Road due to a crash involving a utility pole.

    Live wires came down in the highway after the crash by Aeries Avenue forcing the closure around 4:30 p.m Monday afternoon.
    The extent of injuries was not immediately known.
    An NSTAR crew is enroute to the scene. Stay tuned for further coverage.
  • Homeless council calls for school supplies

    With prices for food and goods skyrocketing and the economy in tough shape, there are more families in need on the Outer and Lower Cape. To ensure that Outer and Lower Cape schoolchildren have all they need to succeed in the upcoming academic year, the Homeless Prevention Council (formerly known as the Interfaith Council for the Homeless of Lower Cape Cod) will again be running their back-to-school program “BACKPACK TO SCHOOL.”

  • High school unveils plan for wind turbine

    Electrician Tim Farrell may have the only wind turbine in town at this point, but his 30-foot-tall one off Holmes Road could be eclipsed by one that Nauset Regional High School hopes to put up on school property.

    Tom Conrad, principal of the high school, said the school applied for a grant from Massachusetts Technology Council to study the feasibility of putting up a turbine. The school received a $50,000 grant for the feasibility study, which showed the idea to be feasible, and then it applied for, and recently received, a grant of $400,000 from MTC for design and construction of a wind turbine.

  • Village Center plan debated



    By late September, the town may have some information about housing needs in Eastham that will be welcomed by members of the Eastham Critical Planning Subcommittee that has been working on the North Eastham Village Center concept for close to seven years.

     

  • Meetings



    Board of selectmen meetings are aired on public access TV Channel 17 at 12:30 p.m. Saturdays and 9 p.m. Mondays. On the Mondays when the board of selectmen meet, they are aired live on public access TV Channel 18 at 6:30 p.m., and repeated daily at 1230 and 6:30 p.m.
