Spot Pond welcomes adaptive kayakers
Last Friday more than five locals gathered to participate in the morning session of the Spot Pond adaptive kayaking program, offered in three sessions every Friday through Aug. 22. It was yet another beautiful day for the group, which is now in its second year of offering these special trips.

Stone Zoo welcomes jaguar cubs
Stoneham -The staff at Stone Zoo announced the birth of a jaguar on May 31. The cub, born to Kanga and Pacal, is expected to make its public debut in early August.

UPDATE: Tenants struggle in Fourth of July fire aftermath
Stoneham -This past Fourth of July, a three-family house at 6 Winthrop St. was engulfed by a three-alarm fire. The house, which was occupied when the fire started at 10:45 p.m., had to be evacuated and six towns came in for assistance — Reading, North Reading, Wakefield, Winchester, Malden and Woburn.
