Homeless council calls for school supplies
REGIONAL -With prices for food and goods skyrocketing and the economy in tough shape, there are more families in need on the Outer and Lower Cape. To ensure that Outer and Lower Cape schoolchildren have all they need to succeed in the upcoming academic year, the Homeless Prevention Council (formerly known as the Interfaith Council for the Homeless of Lower Cape Cod) will again be running their back-to-school program “BACKPACK TO SCHOOL.”

PROVINCETOWN -Varla Jean Merman performs her 4th annual benefit for the AIDS Support Group of Cape Cod at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, at the U.U. Meetinghouse in Provincetown in a program of music titled Classical Varla.
